Types of Numbers with Examples

Natural Numbers:

The set of numbers are { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13.....}. The natural numbers are often called as the counting numbers and the positive integers.

Whole Numbers:

This is the set of natural numbers, plus zero, i.e., {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ....}.

Even Numbers:

An integer is even if it is a multiple of two, and is odd otherwise. i.e., {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, ....}.

Odd Numbers:

An odd number is an integer when divided by two, either leaves a remainder or the result is a fraction. i.e., {1, 3, 5, 7, 9, ....}.

Prime number:

An integer with exactly two positive divisors: itself and 1. The primes form an infinite sequence are {2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, ...}
