Brinell Hardness Number(BHN or HB) Calculator
This HB calculator is used to measure the resistance of a sample to material deformation due to a constant compression load from a sharp object.
Brinell Hardness Number(BHN or HB) Calculator Formula:
The Brinell hardness number(BHN or HB) is the load divided by the surface area of the indentation. The diameter of the impression is measured with a microscope with a superimposed scale. The Brinell Hardness Number is calculated from the equation:
BHN =
πD(D - D2 - d2)
Where,
BHN or HB - brinell hardness number in kg/mm2
P - load in kgf
D - steel ball diameter in mm
d - depression diameter in mm
π - 3.14159
