DRE & DE Calculator

This DRE calculator is used to measure that a combustion unit is destroying the organic components found in hazardous waste.

Destruction and Removal Efficiency Formula

Calculate the DRE percentage using the following formula:

DRE = Win - WoutWin

Where,

DRE is destruction and removal efficiency in %

Win is mass feed rate of a particular POHC in lb/h

Wout is mass emission rate of the same POHC in lb/h

POHC is principal organic hazardous contaminant

Determining Organic Compound Destruction Efficiency

Destruction and removal efficiency (DRE) is the efficiency of the unit (kiln) in destruction and removal of a particular targeted organic compound. With respect to organic compounds, this is generally referred to as destruction efficiency (DE).Calculate the DE percentage using the following formula:

DE = (1 - (WoutWin) ) × 100

Where,

Win is mass feed rate of one POHC in the hazardous waste fed to the kiln.

Wout is mass emission rate of the same POHC present in the stack gas.

If the DE value exceeds 99.99%, the DE requirement has been met.
